We're Home !

After fifty days of absence we are once again enjoying our home. The weeks in Niger were precious to us, and we felt God’s presence as we worked and interacted with the teachers who attended the teaching sessions. We have gained wonderful friendships and a host of interesting experiences.

We flew into Grand Rapids late yesterday afternoon, and were lovingly greeted by all seven grandchildren and their parents. It was a joy to see the familiar faces! We feasted on a delicious dinner at the Hendricksons’ home with wonderful food prepared by Paige and Shelley - with assistance from their families. It was delightful to hear of their summer travels and activities, and to share our experiences with them. We are thankful for the health and safety of all while we were away.

The Mediterranean cruise was a perfect way to conclude our journey. We enjoyed the luxury of the provisions on the ship and the discoveries at each port stop. We did a lot of walking as we explored the sights, the historical cities, ancient ruins, and beautiful sea coast. The weather was absolutely perfect with sunshine and bright blue skies to match the beauty of the blue Mediterranean waters.

Please continue to pray for the teachers who participated in the seminars. These Christian men and women will face hardships and challenges as they begin the new school year the first of October. They have poor facilities, they lack teaching materials, they do not have student or teacher supplies, and they will have many students (50 to 80) in their classrooms: but we are encouraged by their determination and love of the Lord to persevere and impact their culture through Christian Education.

We plan to maintain our relationship with the RCA Volunteer Bureau, and to continue our support for teacher training and education in Niger. We are grateful for each of you who participated with your prayer support, with your words of encouragement, and with scholarship support for the teachers. Thanks for your interest in this mission, and for accompanying us via the web site.

Thanks for your love and prayers,

In His Hand,

Ted and Eleanor
