We spent a wonderful morning of worship with the believers at the Niamey
EERN Church. The highlights were the communion service following the regular
service and the singing of I Surrender All in English, by the students
in the Bible/English class which we have been teaching. At our last meeting
the students suggested that the hymn be sung in English by the class.
We sang all five verses accompanied by various African drums. The morning
was a mountain top experience.
The Muslim holiday, Tabaski, started today. The streets were crowded this
morning with rams being led to slaughter. On our way to and from church
we saw hundreds of rams in various stages of being slaughtered and roasted.
Because of the increased activity around the city we stayed pretty close
to home this afternoon. We did venture out to a nearby market to purchase
some little school- notebooks for the grandchildren.
On Tuesday we plan to head out a couple hours back into the bush to go
on a safari. Not to hunt, but to track and photograph giraffes in the
area.
Happy February,
Love, T & E
