We are back from the bush and settling into our room in the capital city
of Niamey. The trip went well, but it was a long grueling 10 hour ride.
We made three brief stops and traveled 20 to 65 miles an hour depending
on the road. We loved the sights along the way.. many people, various
villages, and lots of camels. Also riding with us was a missionary from
the UK who has been in Niger, off and on, for 17 years. He writes Hausa
language Bible courses. He's very knowledgeable about the area, and very
interesting. He even drove a vehicle through the Sahara Desert, heading
southeast from Morocco, Algeria, and into Niger.
Before getting to our room, which is a guest house similar to the one
in Maradi, we stopped for some vegetables. We cooked potatoes, carrots,
tomatoes, and onions together and called it soup. It tasted very good,
with yogurt and peanuts for dessert.
Good night.
NOTE: In one of my emails I sent to Ted and Eleanor I told them to Kiss
a Camel for me. So....this picture was sent with the title "Kiss
a Camel". I thought I was going to see them kiss a camel.
